Job summary

UNIS is seeking an Operations Manager for the 2nd shift to lead and optimize critical activities across logistics, supply chain, and production. The role will interface with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with efficiency, quality, and profitability goals and to drive continuous improvement on the second shift in Joliet, IL.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in operations, logistics, or supply chain with leadership.
• Understanding of logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing processes.
• Intermediate Excel and Word skills.
• Experience with various WMS systems.
• KPI / SLA management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight and on-the-ground leadership to the second-shift operations team.
• Oversee and coordinate operational workflows spanning logistics, supply chain, and production, emphasizing efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
• Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and compliance measures to maintain a high-functioning, risk-averse environment.
• Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation, executing actionable strategies to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.
• Recruit, train, and mentor team members on the second shift, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture centered on professional growth and excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 5+ years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain management, with demonstrated success in a leadership capacity.
• Strong understanding of operational processes in logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing and the ability to manage and optimize complex workflows across teams.
• Intermediate level Excel and Word
• Experience with various WMS systems
• KPI / SLA management

Preferred Requirements

• Proven track record of leading second-shift or off-hours operations teams in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
• Training, monitoring, evaluating, supervising, and disciplining employees based on goals and duties
• Verifying employee time/payroll information and authorize overtime
• Assisting with planning and budget process
• Communicating with customers, vendors and employees
