Job summary

The role requires a valid driver’s license, 3–5 years in field ops, and proven budgeting and leadership experience. Full-time position with relocation not provided and travel not required.

Overview

Lead the transformation of Newark’s green spaces as our Operations Manager . In this critical leadership role, you will strategically manage the day-to-day operations, budgeting, and performance of the Streetplus park maintenance programs in Newark. You will oversee a dedicated team of Supervisors and Outside Cleaner Ambassadors, ensuring that contracts are executed flawlessly and park landscapes are kept to the highest aesthetic and environmental standards.

A driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Direct, mentor, and evaluate supervisors and frontline ambassadors to ensure high morale, accountability, and operational efficiency.
• Mobile Field Audits: Drive a company-provided vehicle to conduct regular, multi-site inspections across various Newark parks to verify that landscaping, cleaning, and horticultural standards strictly align with benchmarks.
• Fleet & Asset Management: Oversee the basic maintenance, tracking, and safety compliance of program vehicles, large equipment, and tools.
• Budget & Resource Management: Manage the program's labor hours, equipment inventory, and operational supplies to maximize financial efficiency.
• Client & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary liaison for local municipal partners, community boards, and stakeholders regarding park upkeep and special project updates.
• Data & Reporting: Monitor team metrics, compile daily/weekly operational reports, and utilize data to optimize crew scheduling and vehicle routing.
• Hiring & Training: Lead recruitment efforts for seasonal and permanent team members, designing comprehensive training programs around vehicle safety, landscaping, and public engagement.

Experience & Requirements

• Management Experience: 3–5 years of experience managing field operations, ideally within public park management, commercial landscaping, or urban district services.
• Valid Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and meet company insurability standards to operate fleet vehicles.
• Financial Literacy: Experience managing operating budgets, labor costs, and vendor relations.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional communication, public relations, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Technical Proficiency: Comfortable utilizing workforce management software, GPS tracking tools, and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Background Check: Must be willing to undergo a criminal history background verification and drug test.
