Warehouse & Logistics Operations Manager

Position Summary

Ladd Safety LLC is seeking a dependable, hands-onWarehouse & Logistics Operations Managerto oversee the daily operation of our warehouse, freight receiving, inventory movement, delivery operations, fleet, and facility maintenance.

This is a working operations position. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working with their hands, operating a forklift, loading and unloading trucks, driving a delivery vehicle when needed, managing drivers, receiving freight, counting inventory, and solving day-to-day operational issues.

The position does not require extensive management experience.Experience running or working in a retail dock, hardware store, building supply operation, wholesale warehouse, distribution center, or similar environment is highly desirable. We are looking for someone with strong common sense, reliability, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities.

This person will serve as a key link between the warehouse, delivery drivers, customers, vendors, and management.

Primary Responsibilities

• 1. Warehouse Operations
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and organization of the warehouse.
  • Receive, unload, inspect, count, and properly put away incoming merchandise.
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load outgoing customer orders and delivery vehicles.
  • Keep warehouse areas organized, clean, safe, and accessible.
  • Ensure products are stored in the proper locations.
  • Assist warehouse employees with daily priorities and workload as needed.
  • Identify damaged, missing, short, or incorrect shipments and communicate issues to management.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse flow.
• 2. Freight Receiving & LTL Shipments
  • Receive and unload LTL freight shipments.
  • Verify shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
  • Inspect incoming freight for visible damage.
  • Accurately count incoming products.
  • Document shortages, overages, damages, or incorrect shipments.
  • Communicate freight discrepancies to management and vendors when necessary.
  • Ensure received inventory is properly processed and placed into inventory locations.
  • Coordinate with freight carriers and assist with resolving delivery or receiving issues.
• 3. Inventory Control
  • Track all incoming inventory from the time it arrives until it is properly stored.
  • Count incoming inventory and verify quantities against documentation.
  • Count outgoing inventory and verify orders before shipment or delivery.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
  • Identify inventory discrepancies and investigate the cause.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Communicate inventory issues, shortages, or discrepancies to management.
  • Maintain organized inventory locations to make products easy to locate and count.
  • Accuracy is extremely important in this position.The person in this role will be expected to take ownership of inventory accuracy and help prevent picking, receiving, and counting errors.
• 4. Delivery Operations
  • Manage the daily activities and schedules of delivery drivers.
  • Coordinate delivery priorities and communicate changes to drivers.
  • Ensure drivers have the correct orders and delivery information.
  • Monitor deliveries and assist with resolving delivery issues.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding customer requests, delivery changes, delays, and special instructions.
  • Step in and make deliveries when a driver is absent, unavailable, or running behind.
  • Help maintain consistent delivery service to customers.
  • Ensure delivery vehicles are properly loaded and organized before leaving the warehouse.
  • Confirm that completed deliveries are properly documented.
  • This is a hands-on role and the ability and willingness to drive a company vehicle and make deliveries is an important part of the position.
• 5. Fleet Management & Vehicle Maintenance
  • Oversee the general condition and cleanliness of all company delivery vehicles.
  • Perform routine inspections of fleet vehicles.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance needs, including oil changes, tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and other routine maintenance.
  • Schedule necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Communicate vehicle problems to management.
  • Track maintenance and repair needs.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, organized, safe, and ready for daily use.
  • Monitor mileage and routine service requirements.
  • Coordinate with outside service providers when repairs or maintenance are required.
  • The employee isnot expected to be a mechanic, but should be able to recognize maintenance issues, communicate problems clearly, and ensure vehicles receive timely service.
• 6. Driver Management
  • Coordinate and manage the daily workload of delivery drivers.
  • Assign delivery routes and priorities as directed by management.
  • Monitor driver attendance and coverage.
  • Help ensure drivers leave on schedule.
  • Ensure drivers properly handle customer orders and company property.
  • Communicate expectations regarding vehicle cleanliness, safety, delivery documentation, and customer service.
  • Address routine driver issues and communicate significant concerns to management.
  • Provide backup driving coverage when necessary.
• 7. Facility & Office Maintenance
  • Maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the warehouse, offices, showroom, and surrounding areas.
  • Identify facility maintenance issues and communicate them to management.
  • Handle basic maintenance and upkeep when appropriate.
  • Coordinate outside vendors or contractors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Ensure warehouse and office areas remain clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Monitor lighting, doors, fixtures, equipment, and general facility conditions.
  • Help maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers.
• 8. Customer & Walk-In Sales Support
  • Assist customers who visit the warehouse or showroom.
  • Help customers locate products and answer basic product questions.
  • Assist with walk-in sales and customer orders as needed.
  • Help load customer purchases into vehicles.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service.
  • Communicate customer questions or special requests to the appropriate sales representative or management.
  • Assist the sales team during busy periods when warehouse and delivery responsibilities allow.
