Job summary

Gardenkeepers of Virginia LLC is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operations for both residential and commercial landscaping crews in Charlottesville, VA. You will keep crews organized, ensure equipment is maintained, and maintain high customer satisfaction by solving problems and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

The role requires managing multiple crews, reviewing contracts, and coordinating resources while reporting to ownership.

Gardenkeepers of Virginia is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our residential and commercial landscaping crews.

This position plays an important role in keeping our crews organized, our equipment maintained, and our customers satisfied. We are looking for someone who can manage people, solve problems, and make sure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to the expectations of each contract.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple crews working across residential and commercial properties.
• Schedule jobs and coordinate crews, equipment, materials, and other resources.
• Review contracts and ensure crews understand the scope and expectations of each property.
• Inspect completed work and address quality-control issues.
• Serve as a point of escalation for customers and field employees.
• Assist with crew layouts, job planning, and on-site customer meetings.

• Ensure company vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and ready for use.

• Address scheduling problems, equipment issues, customer concerns, and other operational challenges as they arise.
• Work closely with ownership and office staff to keep operations running smoothly.

Position Requirements

• Previous management-level experience is required.
• Experience managing landscaping, grounds-maintenance, construction, or other field-service crews is strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple crews, schedules, priorities, and customer expectations.
• Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and safe equipment operation.
• Ability to read and understand residential and commercial contracts and scopes of work.
• Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Basic computer and office-management skills.

Work Environment

This is predominantly an office-based management position, but regular travel into the field is required. The Operations Manager will visit job sites to assist with crew layouts, inspect completed work, troubleshoot operational issues, and review properties with customers.

This is not a position where every day will go exactly according to plan. The right person must be comfortable making decisions, adjusting schedules, solving problems, and helping wherever needed to keep the company moving forward.

Compensation

$28.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
