LS3002 GE Vernova Operations LLC in Schenectady, NY seeks a Third Shift Operations Leader to oversee daily manufacturing in the Stator Bar Shop, driving lean improvements and KPI attainment. You will lead the hourly workforce during the 11pm–7am shift, ensuring safe, efficient production and disciplined execution of SOPs.

The role emphasizes manpower planning, production gap management, and proactive problem solving, with a focus on safety, quality, and cost control in a high‑volume environment.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree (2+ years supervisory experience) or High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years Manufacturing/leadership experience or 3–4 years Military Training.
  • Ability to work 3rd Shift (11pm–7am); onsite in Schenectady, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate work based on priorities from production schedule.
  • Manage daily productivity to meet L1 targets.
  • Communicate safety points and promote safety conversations.
  • Develop technical knowledge and execute policy with guidance.
  • Solve straightforward tasks using experience and training.
  • Maintain discipline and upholding SOPs on shift.
  • Coordinate with other shifts to share critical information.

Job Description Summary

The Third Shift Operations Leader is responsible for the daily execution of manufacturing operations in the Stator Bar Shop within the Generator Manufacturing Department. This role ensures the reliability, consistency, and efficiency of production lines by leveraging lean manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead the hourly workforce during third shift, ensuring that all departmental KPIs are met through proactive manpower planning, production gap management, and disciplined execution of standard operating procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Delegate work assignments based on current priorities dictated by production schedule
  • Manage daily productivity goals and ensure shift force is achieving the L1 targets
  • Communicate daily safety talking points (provided by EHS) and Encourage safety conversations- address concerns promptly
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
  • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
  • Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
  • May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
  • Uphold company code of conduct, procedures, and work rules for employees on shift and issue disciplinary action if necessary
  • Promote positive shop culture and maintain employee morale
  • Optimize indirect labor on shift- Initiate housekeeping and improvement projects
  • Communicate and follow-up with quality non‑compliance incidents that happen on shift
  • Verify that employee weekly timecards are correctly updated in Kronos
  • Verbally communicate with Operations Leaders on other shifts to make sure critical information flows between shifts
  • Communicates with direct team and supervisor
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work 3rd Shift (11pm - 7am), will train for about 2 weeks on 1st Shift
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role (manufacturing or similar industry preferred) OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or leadership position OR 3-4 years of Military Training
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
  • This position is 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY
Desired Characteristics
  • Engineering or Management Degree
  • Previous Shift Supervisor – preferred from warehousing delivery type environment
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Manufacturing experience relevant to heavy duty equipment
  • Experience running projects in a machine shop environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Established project management skills

Pay Range

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $76,300.00 and $114,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus. This posting is expected to remain open for at least seven days after it was posted on September 17, 2026.
