UEC in Akron, OH is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student intern to gain exposure to transportation management and participate in daily tasks such as freight planning, asset utilization, safety compliance, driver payroll, and logistics analysis.

The role requires 20–25 hours per week, MS Office proficiency, and flexibility. Compensation is $15/hour with potential bonuses; full-time roles offer medical/dental/vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability, PTO, and holidays.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Gaining exposure and understanding of basic transportation management principles.
• Participating in daily operational tasks such as freight planning, asset utilization, safety management, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, driver payroll, Customer Value Delivery, logistics management and analysis, driver supervision, profit-and-loss management, and maintenance coordination.
• Understanding industry trends and company initiatives related to driver retention.
• Performing account-specific duties as required by customers.
• Completing other related duties as assigned.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited community college, college, or university.
• Ability to work 20-25 hours per week during the school semester.
• Adaptability to a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities and directives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Junior or Senior level preferred.
• GED and High School diploma required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay of $15, with starting pay influenced by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
• Eligibility for annual bonuses and incentives based on profitability or volumes according to company plans.
