Job summary

Werner Enterprises offers a paid summer internship at our Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, with potential remote/off-site opportunities. The 11-week program provides training, real-world project work, and exposure to our freight network across multiple modes, plus housing assistance where available.

You will learn from the Optimization team, gain hands-on experience with Mastery TMS and HopTek tools, and participate in Leaders Sessions, mentorship, and networking activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or related field.
• Interested in logistics, supply chain management, analytics, or customer service roles.
• Eager to solve real-world problems and build relationships.
• Willing to work with emerging technology and make an impact from day one.

Responsibilities

• Assist with freight network learning and management with Optimization and Dedicated Backhaul teams.
• Support billing processes for freight managed by the Optimization team.
• Assist with timely data entry of booked freight and coordinate with divisions for on-time pickup/delivery.
• Learn how Werner’s Optimization team uses technology and AI to drive efficiency across operations.

Job description

Our summer internship program is an excellent opportunity to tie what you have learned in the classroom into real-world experience. The program consists of an 11-week immersion into Werner Enterprises.

Internship Overview:

• Paid internship that includes dedicated job training and learning opportunities
• Located at our Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska (some remote and off-site opportunities may be available)

Responsibilities:

• Work with Optimization and Dedicated Backhaul Team to learn and help manage the freight networkacross one way and dedicated divisions.

• Assist with billing process for all freight managed by the Optimization team, working closely with our internal billing teams, and customers.

• Assist Optimization Administrative team with ensuring all booked freight is entered into the system timely and communicating with executing divisions to manage for on time pickup and delivery.

• Learn how Werner’s Optimization team leverages technology and AI to drive cross-modal efficiency across Dedicated, One-Way, Logistics, Power Only, and Intermodal operations.

• Manage daily workflows using Mastery TMS alongside Hoptek’s suite of tools, including Freight Finder, Commitment Manager, and Load and Mode Optimizer.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field
• Anyone seeking experience in logistics, supply chain management, business analytics, or customer service
