Job summary

LandVest is seeking an energetic Operations Forester for its Ridgway, PA office. The role combines field (80%) and office (20%) work for various clients, reporting to the Pennsylvania Regional Forester.

Responsibilities include timber sale administration, green certification, inventory, and field and office duties. The ideal candidate will have a forestry degree (SAF-accredited) or an associate’s with experience, strong technical skills (Excel/Word), and 3–5 years of related work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry from an SAF accredited program.
• Associate’s degree with additional experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Timber Sale Administration: develop and implement silvicultural prescriptions, complete sale documents and contracts, inspect active sales.
• Green Certification: ensure compliance with LandVest green policies and procedures.
• Inventory: participate in and manage inventory projects, including carbon inventories.
• Field duties: reconnaissance of harvest units, road layout, boundary maintenance, GPS data collection, invasives control.
• Office: maintain client records, update maps, prepare monthly reports and timber sale paperwork.

LandVest is looking for an energetic and dedicated individual for an Operations Forester position for its growing business in its Ridgway, Pennsylvania Office. The position will be a mix of field (80%) and office (20%) work for various clients focusing on meeting their objectives. The position will report to the Pennsylvania Regional Forester.

Job Type

• Full-time

Duties & Responsibilities

• Timber Sale Administration: Development & implement silvicultural prescriptions, complete sale preparation documents, complete sales layout, easement compliance, create contracts, inspect active timber sales, etc.
• Green Certification: Compliance with LandVest green certification policies and procedures.
• Inventory: Participate in and help manage inventory projects, including carbon project inventory as assigned.
• Other Field Duties: Reconnaissance of potential harvest units, field easement compliance, hunting license compliance, road layout, boundary line maintenance GPS data collection, invasives control, etc.
• Office: Maintenance of LandVest and client records, updating maps, input into client monthly reports, other client reporting, timber sale paperwork, etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field from an SAF accredited program
• Associate’s degree with additional experience will be considered
• Strong computer (Excel and Word) and other technical skills.
• Three to five years of work experience with similar duties.
• Passion for the forestry profession
• Strong work ethic and dedication
• Attention to detail and excellence.
• Open mind and readiness to learn from experienced foresters.
• Desire to work in all weather conditions in remote areas often alone.
• The initiative and ability to plan your own day to day schedule and work with minimal daily oversight.
