Job summary

LandVest, Inc. seeks an Operations Forester for its Ridgway, PA office. The role blends field (80%) and office (20%) work for multiple clients, with reporting to the Pennsylvania Regional Forester.

You’ll perform field surveys, timber sale administration, and data management to support client objectives. The position requires a SAF-accredited forestry degree or equivalent experience, strong computer skills, and the ability to work in all weather and remote locations with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry from an SAF accredited program or equivalent experience with strong forestry foundations.
• Strong computer skills including Excel and Word; familiarity with other technical tools.
• Three to five years of work experience in similar duties.
• Desire to work in varying weather conditions and remote areas with minimal supervision.
• Initiative to plan day-to-day work independently.

Responsibilities

• Timber Sale Administration: Develop and implement silvicultural prescriptions, prepare sale documents, inspect active timber sales.
• Green Certification: Ensure compliance with LandVest green certification policies and procedures.
• Inventory: Participate in inventory projects, including carbon inventory tasks.
• Other Field Duties: Reconnaissance of harvest units, compliance with easements and GPS data collection, invasive control.
• Office: Maintain records, update maps, input monthly client reports, and complete timber sale paperwork.
