Job summary

The City of Durham is seeking a Maintenance and Operations Administrator within the Environmental & Street Services Department. Lead maintenance planning, training, and safety programs for stormwater and street assets in Durham, NC.

You will develop and implement education/training standards, monitor performance metrics, and help manage budgets and procurement under city policies. This role is designated critical to emergency operations and requires coordinating cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in field related to assignment or equivalent experience.
• Five years of related maintenance management experience in stormwater, asphalt, concrete, and street cleaning infrastructure maintenance and repairs.
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
• Must complete job related safety training (e.g., lock out/tag out, confined space entry, ladder safety, respirator, emergency evacuation).

Responsibilities

• Manage facility maintenance for the campus, including CIP renovations.
• Manage divisional fleet operations including maintenance schedules, replacement plans, and staff training.
• Oversee the storm water quality program to ensure compliance with laws and city policies.
• Coordinate snow removal and ice control on streets, sidewalks and parking areas.
• Supervise construction, maintenance, and repairs of streets, curbs, sidewalks, and parking areas.
