Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company invites you to join its Summer Internship in Operations Engineering.

You will work on the plant floor with technicians and salaried staff to collect data, learn manufacturing processes, and identify process-improvement opportunities while managing projects and documenting results. This 100% in-person program offers hands-on mentorship, exposure to high-profile product categories like snacks, coffee, and pet food, and a housing stipend for relocating interns.

Qualifications

• Rising student in engineering (sophomore–senior) with relevant coursework.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Willing to work in office and plant environments and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with plant technicians to identify process improvements and understand manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate activities of contractors, hourly technicians, and other resources on site.
• Prepare standard reports and documentation to communicate results to stakeholders.
• Manage projects from scope development through implementation, commissioning, and verification.
• Collect and analyze data to drive improvements while collaborating with salaried staff and technicians.

Education

Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Industrial) preferred
