Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is offering an Operations Engineering Intern position for Summer 2027 in Lexington, KY area with multiple location preferences.

This on-site internship focuses on collecting data, learning manufacturing processes, and identifying process improvements in collaboration with technicians and engineers. You will support project management from scope through verification, document results, and help drive practical plant improvements across a Fortune 500 manufacturing

Qualifications

• Engineering student with focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial engineering
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to work in office and plant environments and follow safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Work with manufacturing technicians to develop process improvement areas and understand manufacturing processes
• Coordinate activities of contractors, hourly technicians, and other resources
• Prepare standard reports and documentation to communicate results
• Manage projects from scope development, capital appropriation, implementation, commissioning, and verification
• Collect, analyze, and utilize data to execute improvements while interfacing with salaried employees and technicians to deliver effective initiatives
