Job summary

Genesis Intermodal Services is hiring an Operations Dispatcher for our Charlotte terminal, on-site in Charlotte, NC. The role supports the Terminal Manager and team, coordinating drivers, delivery instructions, and customer communications during peak periods.

Requirements include 2–3 years of intermodal dispatcher experience, strong customer service, and preferred international port exposure. HS diploma required; logistics certifications are a plus. Mon-Fri, 8a-5p, benefits after 30 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience as a Dispatcher in INTERMODAL transportation and/or logistics.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional certification in logistics or transportation is preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of International Port experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicating with drivers to provide accurate and up-to-date delivery instructions, address any concerns or emergencies, and monitor progress throughout the assigned delivery routes.
• Tracking and monitoring the location of drivers and their progress using ELD tracking systems or other applicable tools.
• Acting as a point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal staff, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing exceptional customer service. Back-up to CSR during heavy volume or absence.
• Maintaining accurate and organized records related to deliveries, including driver logs, delivery schedules, and deviations or incidents.
• Collaborating with the Terminal Manager on driver training and monitoring driver performance.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of previous dispatcher experience in INTERMODAL transportation and/or logistics, good customer service, and be able to work on-site, Monday through Friday, 8a-5p. This role is a multi-faced role that will work with the Terminal Manager as backup to other team members during peak business periods, and as needed. Previous experience with international ports is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Communicating with drivers to provide them with accurate and up-to-date delivery instructions, address any concerns or emergencies, and monitor progress throughout the assigned delivery routes.
• Tracking and monitoring the location of drivers and their progress using ELD tracking systems or other applicable tools.
• Acting as a point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal staff, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing exceptional customer service. Will act as back-up to the customer service representative in times of heavy volume or periods of absence by the CSR.
• Maintaining accurate and organized records related to deliveries, including driver logs, delivery schedules, and any deviations or incidents that may occur.
• Continuously monitoring and assessing driver performance, identifying areas for improvement and providing feedback and training as necessary. Will be required to collaborate with the Terminal Manager on driver training.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional certification in logistics or transportation is preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience as a Dispatcher or Customer Service Lead with dispatching experience in INTERMODAL transportation
• At least 1-2 years of International Port experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work for prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer or speaking with driver contracts via telephone, MS Teams, Zoom and/or in person, where applicable.
• Must be able to lift 30 lbs without assistance as part of the regular duties of the position.
• Demonstrated ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy work environment.

Pay range and compensation package

• $50k to $55k/year DOE
