Job summary

UM Ventures, a joint initiative of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks an Assistant Director of Operations to lead the administration team handling IP disclosures, funding compliance, and license management. You will manage IP agreements, maintain data, and help shape office policies while coordinating with finance and leadership.

Strong data analytics, policy interpretation, and supervisory experience are required to support technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven (7) years of professional experience managing business operations.
• Two (2) years supervising or managing professional staff.
• Knowledge of business acumen to understand key business drivers, organizational communications, and data.
• Knowledge of organizational and unit performances measures.
• Knowledge of the impact and implications of decisions on leadership objectives.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in data analytics and negotiation.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
• Ability to develop and administer new policies and procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Responsibilities

• Oversee intake, triage, and disposition of all IP disclosures.
• Ensure compliance with federal and non-federal funding obligations.
• Coordinate license reports and timely payments with the finance team.
• Process and maintain assigned IP agreements and amendments.
• Maintain data and admin for IPManagement database and tools.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement office policies and procedures.
