Job summary

UM Ventures, the joint initiative of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks an Assistant Director of Operations. The role leads the administration team responsible for IP disclosure intake, triage, and disposition, ensures compliance with funding obligations, and coordinates license payments with Finance.

The position also maintains agreements and amendments and oversees IP management software and data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 7+ years of professional experience managing business operations.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in a technology transfer/academic setting.
• Knowledge of business drivers and organizational performance measures.
• Strong data analytics and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the UM Ventures administration team ( intake, triage, disposition of IP disclosures).
• Ensure compliance with federal and non-federal funding obligations and license/reporting requirements.
• Coordinate payments with finance and maintain assigned agreements and amendments.
• Oversee IP management database and other software tools; ensure timely filings and policy updates.
• Develop and implement office policies and procedures in collaboration with leadership.
