Job summary

A. M. Castle & Co. is seeking an Operations Coordinator to provide operations support across reporting, inventory, scheduling and quality control. The role collaborates with management to monitor trends, manage stock, and ensure timely production flow.

Job duties include maintaining reports, coordinating schedules with planners, and helping train new staff. The ideal candidate has strong computer skills and effective communication within a fast-paced distribution environment.

Qualifications

• One year of administrative experience.
• Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced math skills.
• Strong analytical abilities and organization skills.
• Ability to solve problems and work with variable situations.
• Ability to collaborate with other functional areas to improve service and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains various reports to inform management of trends, shortages and order status.
• Communicates purchasing requirements for the production schedule to procurement.
• Coordinates schedules, lead times and expedit es with planners and sales as needed.
• Supports inventory reconciliation and control.
• Responds to service requests from the sales department.
• Verifies inventory locations in rack and floor systems.
• Assists in training new employees as requested.
• Performs other related work as assigned.
