Job summary

Oklahoma State University in Stillwater seeks a Coordinator Operations to lead recreation facilities and develop student leaders. You will oversee daily operations at Colvin Recreation Center, Seretean Wellness Center, and Colvin Annex within the Department of Wellness.

You will manage staffing, training, safety, payroll, budgeting, and risk management, ensuring welcoming, clean, safe facilities with excellent service for patrons and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Exercise Science or related field.
• One year of related professional experience; GA counted as 1 year of full-time experience.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification and instructor requirement within 90 days of hire.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; strong communication and organizational skills.
• Preferred: Master's in Recreation Management or related field; 2–3 years supervisory operations experience.
• Experience with time and attendance software is desirable; RCRSP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily facility operations, staffing, maintenance coordination, and policy enforcement.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student Operations staff.
• Ensure cleanliness and readiness through routine inspections and safety checks.
• Support payroll processing, budgeting, and inventory management for supplies and safety equipment.
• Contribute to risk management through safety audits, emergency planning, and staff training.
• Monitor compliance with safety standards and best practices across the department.
• Provide on-site supervision during evenings and weekends as needed.

The Coordinator Operations assists with the daily management of the Colvin Recreation Center, Seretean Wellness Center, and Colvin Annex within the Department of Wellness. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, efficient, and welcoming facilities while supporting operational excellence and risk management initiatives across the department.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with daily facility operations, including staffing, maintenance coordination, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
• Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student Operations Attendants, Operations Supervisors, and a Graduate Assistant Operations.
• Ensuring facilities meet high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness through routine inspections.
• Supporting customer service excellence by ensuring facilities are welcoming, clean, safe, and appropriately staffed.
• Assisting with payroll processing, budgeting, and inventory management for operational supplies, safety equipment, and facility resources.
• Contributing to risk management efforts through safety audits, incident response procedures, emergency preparedness planning, and staff training.
• Monitoring facility compliance with departmental, university, and industry safety standards and best practices.
• Assisting with the development and delivery of safety training programs for student staff, with an emphasis on emergency response, hazard recognition, and facility protocols.
• Providing on-site supervision during evening and weekend hours as part of departmental operational coverage as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's

  Health Promotion, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Exercise Science or another related field

  (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

• One year of related professional experience. A two-year Graduate Assistantship will be considered as 1-year of full-time experience.

Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

CPR/AED/First Aid, CPR/AED/First Aid instructor within 90 days of hire

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally more

Computer experience: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's

  Recreation Management, Leisure Studies or related degree

• Two to three years' experience in recreation center operations to include hiring, training, and supervision of students. A completed two-year graduate assistantship in operations in a campus recreation setting. Two to three years of Operations experience in a supervisory environment.
