Job summary

Oklahoma State University (Stillwater) seeks a Coordinator of Operations to lead daily recreation facility activities at Colvin Recreation Center and Seretean Wellness Center. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Exercise Science or related field (degree conferred by start date).
• One year of related professional experience; GA assistantship may count as 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily facility operations including staffing, maintenance coordination, and policy enforcement.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student staff across Operations.
• Ensure facilities meet high cleanliness and readiness standards through inspections.
• Support customer service by maintaining welcoming, clean, and safe facilities.
• Assist with payroll processing, budgeting, and inventory management for supplies and equipment.
• Contribute to risk management through safety audits and emergency planning.
• Monitor safety standards and best practices across the department.
• Develop and deliver safety training for student staff, emphasizing emergency response.
• Provide on-site supervision during evenings and weekends as needed.

The Coordinator Operations assists with the daily management of the Colvin Recreation Center, Seretean Wellness Center, and Colvin Annex within the Department of Wellness. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, efficient, and welcoming facilities while supporting operational excellence and risk management initiatives across the department.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with daily facility operations, including staffing, maintenance coordination, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
• Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student Operations Attendants, Operations Supervisors, and a Graduate Assistant Operations.
• Ensuring facilities meet high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness through routine inspections.
• Supporting customer service excellence by ensuring facilities are welcoming, clean, safe, and appropriately staffed.
• Assisting with payroll processing, budgeting, and inventory management for operational supplies, safety equipment, and facility resources.
• Contributing to risk management efforts through safety audits, incident response procedures, emergency preparedness planning, and staff training.
• Monitoring facility compliance with departmental, university, and industry safety standards and best practices.
• Assisting with the development and delivery of safety training programs for student staff, with an emphasis on emergency response, hazard recognition, and facility protocols.
• Providing on-site supervision during evening and weekend hours as part of departmental operational coverage as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's

  Health Promotion, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Exercise Science or another related field

  (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

• One year of related professional experience. A two-year Graduate Assistantship will be considered as 1-year of full-time experience.

Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

CPR/AED/First Aid, CPR/AED/First Aid instructor within 90 days of hire

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally more

Computer experience: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's

  Recreation Management, Leisure Studies or related degree

• Two to three years' experience in recreation center operations to include hiring, training, and supervision of students. A completed two-year graduate assistantship in operations in a campus recreation setting. Two to three years of Operations experience in a supervisory environment.

Registered Collegiate Recreational Sports Professional (RCRSP)
