Job summary

The University of Oregon is seeking a Coordinator of Operations for the Department of Physical Education and Recreation in Eugene. You will lead operations for the Student Recreation Center and related facilities, supervise about 50 student employees, manage budgets, and promote programs while ensuring top customer service and safety standards.

Evening/weekend hours may be required; CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain is required.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Coordinator of Operations provides leadership, management and administration for the Department of Physical Education and Recreation which includes staffing, operations and services of a large, complex department. This includes the Student Recreation Center, two multi-purpose indoor recreation facilities, two tennis facilities, two natural turf fields, four lighted synthetic turf fields and an outdoor jogging track.
The Coordinator is a member of the business and operations team and reports to the Assistant Director for Operations. This position oversees and facilitates the Department of Physical Education and Recreation’s largest program area, open recreation. Primary service responsibilities include overseeing equipment issue, weight room and cardio area open recreation and locker room operations and communications. Oversight includes the staffing and supervision of approximately 50 Operation Attendant student employees.
The Coordinator assists and supports the Assistant Director in managing the Operations program budget; supervising and mentoring a student work force; and promoting and marketing programs and services. This position assists with the review, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures for facility operations including facility access. The Coordinator also serves as the first point of contact for patrons and is responsible for ensuring that student staff meet a high standard of customer service.
Evening and weekend hours may be required. Additional hours may be required during peak periods. This position requires CPR and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.

• Master’s degree in Recreation Administration/Management, Leisure Studies, Education Administration, or related field
• Experience in, or demonstrated understanding of collegiate recreation facility operations, student staff oversight and recruitment.
• Experience with data entry and management, and knowledge of standard computer software programs, including word processing and business applications.
• Experience in membership sales/management and oversight of frontline customer service operations.
• Experience with Innosoft Fusion – Recreation Management software.
