Job summary

Harper, an AI-native commercial insurance company in San Francisco, seeks a hands-on operator who builds software to support real business goals. You’ll embed with sales, service, underwriting, and carrier relations to surface friction and ship the automation that removes it.

You’ll write SQL, prototype AI agents and internal tools in days and measure impact in business outcomes, not features. This on‑site role requires curiosity, rapid iteration, and the ability to translate operational pain

Qualifications

• 2–4 years in a high-pace environment (startup, operations, consulting, or engineering).
• Track record of building and shipping internal tools, automations, or workflows in production.
• Comfortable in SQL and at least one of Python or TypeScript.
• Hands-on with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent).
• Strong written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate immediately.

Responsibilities

• Find leverage by observing the work and surfacing automations nobody built yet.
• Run the operation: follow-ups, carrier communications, and moving deals through the pipeline.
• Build fast: prototype AI agents and internal tools; ship in weeks.
• Instrument everything: write SQL, pull data, and prove impact with business metrics.
• Shape future work: translate operational pain into product requirements for engineering.
