Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks an Operating Room Technologist to join our surgical team in Jersey City. You will prepare the operating room, support surgeons and perioperative staff, and help ensure safe, efficient patient care throughout procedures.

The role requires completing an accredited OR Technician program, and current AST and BLS certifications. This hourly, day shift position offers hands-on growth in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Accredited Operating Room Technician training program completed.
• Current AST certification and BLS required.
• High school diploma or equivalent completed.
• Strong sterile technique and patient safety fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for procedures with instruments and supplies ready.
• Provide scrub support to surgeons and perioperative team during procedures.
• Anticipate needs of the surgical team to maintain a safe operative environment.
• Maintain sterile technique and adherence to infection prevention policies.
• Handle, organize, and pass instruments and supplies with accuracy.
• Assist with patient care activities before, during, and after surgery.
• Support cleaning and preparation of instruments and equipment between cases.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff for coordinated care.
• Participate in quality improvement, staff education, and ongoing learning.
• Work within legal and regulatory standards of the OR Technician role.
