Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health’s Community Medical Center in New Jersey seeks an OR Technician to support the Perioperative team in a fast-paced surgical setting. You will prepare and organize supplies, assist with procedures, and help maintain a safe, efficient operating room.

This role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, adherence to infection prevention, and ongoing professional development; appropriate orientation and BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of inventory control techniques preferred.
• Certified Aide training program helpful but not mandatory.
• Current BLS / Health Care Provider certification.
• Proven work record demonstrating reliability, professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to quality service.
• Commitment to continuing education and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Perioperative team in maintaining efficient workflow and supporting daily operating room activities.
• Preparing and organizing surgical supplies, equipment, and other necessary resources to ensure the operating room is ready for procedures.
• Supporting inventory control by monitoring, organizing, and maintaining appropriate levels of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Assisting with the cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of operating room equipment and supplies between procedures.
• Working collaboratively with nurses, surgical technologists, surgeons, and other perioperative staff to promote coordinated patient care and efficient operating room workflow.
• Following established policies, procedures, infection prevention practices, and safety standards to maintain a high level of service and professionalism.
• Supporting continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and contributing to a safe, efficient, and patient-centered perioperative environment.
• Demonstrating attention to detail, accountability, adaptability, and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical setting.
• Participating in continuing education, department training, and professional development to maintain and expand clinical and technical knowledge.
• Successfully completing site personnel general orientation and department-specific orientation requirements.
