Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, IA is seeking a Surgical Technician to support operating rooms with setup, sterilization, and instrument handling. The role emphasizes patient safety and timely case readiness.

You will assist surgeons and nurses, maintain a sterile field, and help distribute supplies while following Infection Control standards. A high school diploma and OR Technician program completion are required, with CST experience preferred but not required.

Formación

• High school graduate with satisfactory completion of an Operating Room Technician program or its equivalent.
• Prefer previous experience as a CST but not required.
• Bi-lingual experience preferred but not required.

Responsabilidades

• Prepares the Operating Room for surgical procedures in a timely fashion; organize equipment and needed instruments; set up quickly and accurately for emergency cases; assure proper and adequate equipment for all cases.
• Assists the surgeon as the first or second scrub person during surgical procedures; maintains a sterile field at all times; handles instruments efficiently; verifies specimens with surgeons and nurses.
• Assists the nurse to account for all instruments, needles, and sponges involved with the surgical procedure.
• Maintains working knowledge of OR machinery and equipment used on the sterile field; receives and verifies implants.
• Assists with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff and students.
• Assists in transporting patients to the OR when necessary.
• Performs decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution procedures per Infection Control guidelines; annual competency review.
• Operates sterilization equipment per manufacturer directions; ensures operator safety.
• Initiates patient charge mechanisms for patient use products.
• Inventories and replenishes OR supplies daily and completes distribution documentation.
• Assembles and delivers surgical case carts per OR Nurse order sheets.
