Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking an Operating Room Technician for a full-time, day shift. Under RN supervision, you will prepare and deliver sterile instruments, support the surgical team, and help maintain aseptic technique in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years OR experience, is a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, and holds a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of program completion.
Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA.

Responsibilities

Adheres to safety standards, infection control, and equipment handling.
Takes corrective actions when discrepancies in counts are identified and provides equipment based on patient needs.
Performs other duties as required.
Observes patient status and reports findings to the RN and communicates concerns.
Reviews perioperative plan and adjusts with RN direction.
Supplies instruments, sutures and equipment with strict aseptic technique.
Participates in unit-based quality improvement and staff education.
Communicates with patients and healthcare team, escalating issues as needed.
Performs additional tasks as assigned.
