Qualifications

Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology and required surgical technologist certification.
Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years and AST membership.
All Surgical Technologist Certified employees will have obtained a credential administered by a recognized certifying body.

Responsibilities

Scrub for all physicians in assigned service area and maintain high-quality, evidence-based care.
Prepare operating room, case carts, and instrument pans with correct supplies.
Anticipate equipment needs and set up back tables and Mayo trays; perform accurate surgical counts.
Assist the surgical team during procedures and respond to surgeon needs and emergencies.
Pass and track instruments and supplies, label medications on the sterile field, and manage specimens.
