Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Olathe, KS is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team at Olathe Hospital. Under RN direction, you will manage instruments, supplies and equipment, maintain a sterile field, and assist the surgeon throughout the procedure.

You will prepare the OR, assist with draping, passing instruments, sponges and medications as directed, perform counts with the circulator, and help ensure safe, high-quality patient care during surgery.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Surgical Tech certificate or associate degree, or 3 years experience in lieu of degree.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Respirator Fit Test required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room and ensures sterile field.
• Provides surgical assistance and passes instruments to the surgeon.
• Maintains sterile technique and safety throughout procedures.
• Assists with patient positioning and dressing applications.
• Performs counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and supplies with a RN circulator.

Education
