Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the Heart Team at Olathe Hospital. You will prepare instruments, maintain a sterile field, and assist throughout surgical procedures to support the surgeon.

Under RN supervision, you will anticipate needs, manage supplies, and ensure safety and quality patient care. Required education includes a Surgical Tech degree or equivalent experience with BLS; respirator fit testing is also required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate or Associate’s Surgical Tech degree OR 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in lieu of the certificate or degree requirement.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Respirator Fit Test - The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS) upon Hire

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures using sterile technique.
• Provides surgical assistance and passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon while maintaining sterile field.
• Participates in the time-out process to verify patient, procedure, and surgical site.
• Provides patient care including sterile dressings and assisting with transferring and positioning.
• Maintains sterility and safety and ensures high standards of sterile technique.

Education

Certificate or Associate’s Surgical Tech degree

3 years of experience as Surgical Technologist in lieu of the certificate or degree requirement
