Job summary

Olathe Health in Kansas is seeking a Surgical Technologist at Olathe Hospital. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Nurse Manager, you will handle instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures and anticipate the surgeon’s needs while maintaining a sterile field.

You will support the surgical team with passing instruments, drapes, irrigation, and specimen handling, while ensuring quality patient care and strict adherence to sterile technique in the operating room.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate or Associate’s Surgical Tech degree OR 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in lieu of the certificate or degree.
• BLS certification.
• Respirator Fit Test required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and ensures equipment functions safely.
• Assists with surgical procedures; maintains sterile operating field and passes instruments.
• Performs counts of instruments, sponges, needles with RN circulator.
• Provides patient care and assists with positioning and dressings.
• Maintains sterility and safety; corrects breaks in sterile field.
• Collaborates with the team to improve performance and patient outcomes.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Surgical Tech certificate or Associate’s degree OR 3 years experience
