Job summary

Corewell Health’s Farmington Hills Hospital is seeking a Surgical Services Assistant to support the operating room team. Under RN supervision, you will transport patients, assist in prepping for surgery, and help with room turnover and equipment cleanup.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–3 months of on-the-job training, and BLS certification upon hire. Work hours are day shift 11 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday to Friday, with possible on-call weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3 months of on-the-job training provided.
• AHA or ARC BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to recovery or hospital floors.
• Assist in positioning and prepping patients for surgery.
• Report unusual patient concerns to staff.
• Help clean patients after surgery.
• Stock operating rooms and warmers.
• Return unused supplies to Central Services Processing.
• Transport specimens and x-rays.
• Obtain blood products from blood and tissue bank.
• Assist with room turnover and equipment preparation.
• Open sterile supplies and instruments as requested.
