Job summary

Hospital Pathology Associates (HPA) is accepting applicants for an Operating Room Runner at Allina HealthCare Central Laboratory – Tenth Avenue Facility in Minneapolis. You will transport surgical specimens from the OR to the pathology lab and work alongside pathologists and lab staff.

The ideal candidate holds a pre-health bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA, strong organizational skills, and comfort in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role offers exposure to diagnostic workflows and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a pre-health program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Interest in pursuing advanced professional degrees in healthcare.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Promptly transport surgical specimens between the operating rooms and Central Laboratory.
• Communicate professionally with surgeons, nurses, operating room staff, and pathology staff.
• Relay messages between the operating room and pathology team.
• Follow established procedures for specimen handling and transportation.
• Work collaboratively to assist colleagues in the collection, management, and reporting of medical data.
• Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, initiative, and accountability.
