Job summary

AVALA is seeking a Surgical Scrub Tech to support surgeons during procedures, maintain aseptic technique, and manage instruments and supplies in the OR. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and patient safety.

The technician will prepare sterile fields, assist with turnover between cases, and collaborate with circulating nurses to ensure efficient surgical flow. Certification is preferred and hospital environment experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Surgical scrub techniques and aseptic procedures.
• Ability to work in operating room under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning and implementing surgical procedures to ensure optimal patient care.
• Reviews cases and ensures necessary supplies and equipment are ready.
• Maintains aseptic technique during operations and while preparing sterile fields.
• Utilizes surgeon’s preference cards to provide required supplies for each case.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and monitors for breaks in aseptic technique.
• Transfers tissue and instruments to appropriate staff and decontamination areas.
• Participates in room turnover and supports patient transfers to recovery.
• Ensures proper cleaning and disinfection of the OR and instruments.
• Counts sponges and instruments as per policy and procedure.
• Completes duties with patient safety in mind and participates in Time Out.
