Job summary

Shriners Children’s seeks a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to plan and enter operating room schedules for multiple surgeons. You will maintain scheduling data, coordinate with care teams, and ensure timely information in our databases.

Responsibilities include accurate data entry, phone communication with departments, and acting as unit secretary/receptionist as needed. Basic Life Support and 2+ years in surgical scheduling preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• 2 years related job experience preferred
• 2 years Medical Terminology knowledge preferred
• 2 years Surgical Scheduling experience preferred
• 2 years typing and computer skills experience expected

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgical procedures for multiple surgeons using approved formats and tools.
• Maintains relevant scheduling information in identified databases.
• Accurately enters daily patient charges within required time frames.
• Acts as unit secretary and receptionist as needed.
• Communicates Surgery Schedule changes/additions to requesting departments.
• Demonstrates proficient computer skills with Windows-based software and scheduling systems.

Does charge capture and reconcile, as well as creates PO's for Vendors. Works with charge nurse, Care Coordination, and other departments to assure the timeliness and accuracy of procedure scheduling. Maintains relevant information in identified databases. Accurately enters daily patient charges in required time frame.
