Job summary

Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking an Registered Nurse in Same Day Care. The role supports pre/post-operative patients in a 240-bed acute care facility; on a full-time 32-hour schedule with options for 10:00a–6:30p or 11:30a–8p and a Friday work requirement.

You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families about procedures, manage IV therapy and preoperative meds, and participate in surgical safety protocols within a collaborative surgical team.

Qualifications

• NH RN license must be obtained prior to employment start date.
• ADN required for nursing practice in NH.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification with briefing, timeout, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support safe nursing care.
