Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced OR RN to lead perioperative care in a dynamic Dallas OR team.

This role requires a BSN, 3 years RN experience, and an active Texas (or NLC) license with BLS. Preference given to candidates with OR leadership background and CNOR certification. The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within a busy surgical unit.

Qualifications

• Education: BSN from an accredited nursing program; Licensure: Texas or NLC RN license and BLS.
• Experience: 3 years as a RN; OR leadership and coordination experience may be required by unit.
• Licenses/Certifications: Texas or NLC RN license; BLS by AHA/ARC.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates patient care by unit staff on a 24-hour basis.
• Manages staffing and scheduling to meet patient needs and productivity targets.
• Collaborates with staff to resolve issues and maintains staffing compliance.
• Acts as OR charge nurse on a rotational basis and mentors personnel.
• Promotes patient safety, quality improvements, and event reporting.
• Coordinates with management on performance, training, and competencies.
• Ensures staffing and equipment inventory are adequate for safe care.
