Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an Operating Room Assistant Nurse Manager to oversee nursing staff in the OR, directing patient care, staffing, and safety initiatives. The role practices leadership by mentoring staff and coordinating with physicians to ensure high-quality surgical services.

The position requires BSN, Texas RN licensure or NLC, and BLS certification, with preferred CNOR and progressive leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; BSN required.
• RN licensure in Texas or NLC.
• BLS certification (AHA/ARC) required.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises and evaluates patient care by staff on a 24-hour basis; conducts daily rounds and chart audits.
• Manages staffing to meet productivity targets; coordinates with Central Staffing Office and adjusts to census/acuity.
• Acts as OR charge nurse on a rotational basis and mentors other nursing staff.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and patient safety initiatives.
• Ensures incident reporting and timely follow-up with Manager and Risk.
• Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to improve OR efficiency.
