Job summary

UMC Health System in Texas is seeking an Environmental Service Assistant for the operating room to support patient flow and sterile environment. The role involves cleaning, prep of sterile supplies, and transporting items, with shift pattern 6:30am-3:00pm Monday through Friday and alternating Sundays.

You will join a team focused on safety and quality, requiring a high school diploma and at least one year in environmental services; BLS certification within 90 days; strong English communication

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• +1 year environmental service experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean, prepare and set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgery.
• Transport patients between care units as needed.
• Handle transport and disposition of specimens and cultures.
• Obtain blood products and return unused products to Transfusion Services.
• Assist staff with room turnover and operating room readiness.
• Operate cleaning machines and equipment efficiently.
• Perform cleaning between cases, including trash/linens, furniture, beds, floors, and sockets.
