Zusammenfassung

Indiana Ortho is seeking a Circulating Nurse to ensure patient safety and provide nursing care during transfer to the operating room and within the operating suite. Responsibilities include assisting in sterilization, maintaining aseptic technique, preparing the OR, and supporting anesthesia personnel throughout procedures.

The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and current Indiana RN or LPN license, with experience in outpatient/ambulatory surgery preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensed RN or LPN in Indiana.
• Healthcare experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in outpatient healthcare operations or an ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
• Knowledge of facility equipment including C-arm, patient monitors, defibrillators, and related systems.

Aufgaben

• Utilizes specialized nursing knowledge and discriminative judgement while administering direct or indirect patient care.
• Visits the patient prior to surgery to alleviate fears and perform nursing assessment.
• Assists in care and treatment of instruments and supplies including sterilization and storage; wrapping equipment for sterilizing and running the sterilizer.
• Assists in safe aseptic techniques and procedures per department protocols.
• Cleans and stocks operating rooms at end of day.
• Knows where all OR supplies are kept.
• Puts away laundry and supplies.
• Assists in preparing the operating room for each case and sets up instrument trays.
• Assists anesthesia personnel with intubation/extubation and anesthesia administration; thermoregulation of the patient.
• Maintains intraoperative patient safety with positioning, equipment use, and chemical/solution handling.
• Performs all other assigned duties as needed.
• Check room supplies and prepare rooms for specific procedures.
• Transports patient and verifies pre-operative records and consent.
• Maintain OR records, implant cards, and patient charts.
• Prepare for surgical cases with necessary monitors and prep.
• Ensure proper safe patient positioning and sponge/needle/instrument counts.
• Receive and document all physicians' orders and record medications given during surgery.
• Inform Clinical Nurse Manager of medications and weekly supply needs.
• Secure and check emergency equipment monthly and as needed.
• Support physicians and anesthesia personnel during procedures.
