Qualifications

• Graduated from an approved School of Nursing, or has had extensive training in surgery.
• Must have worked in Med/Surg for at least 2 years.
• Must have High School diploma or GED Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing OR for surgery and ensure sterility of instruments.
• Assist the surgeon with the procedure.
• Perform sponge, instrument and needle counts at start of case, during closure, and at skin closure.
• Clean instruments and OR suite after cases and document charts.
• Assist physicians in the ER when on call and set up instruments as needed.
• Set up of special diagnostic procedures and assist during the study.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality and follow policies in Surgery and ER.
