Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an OR support staff member for weekend shifts (Sat-Sun, 7am-7pm) in Massachusetts. Under Charge RN supervision, you will assist in OR setup, maintain sterile supplies, prep patients, and transport specimens and equipment to support surgical teams.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and adherence to department guidelines, with mandatory training during the week and ongoing performance improvement participation.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.
• Ability to read and write in English to perform essential duties.
• Strong manual dexterity for handling delicate surgical instruments.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in transferring and positioning surgical patients.
• Clean and restock operating rooms and equipment between cases.
• Prepare skin with shaving as needed; assist in sterile prep.
• Assist in holding patients for spinal anesthesia.
• Transport specimens and supplies as required by LHMC policies.
• Deliver blood products to the surgical suite and notify staff of returns.
