Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Assistant for a rotating full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays. Shifts vary in day and evening hours with on-call requirements; orientation ranges 7:00am–3:30pm, 3:00pm–11:30pm, 11:00pm–7:30am, followed by a Monday–Friday 11:00am–7:30pm permanent shift.

The role supports OR operations by transporting specimens, equipment, and patient belongings, while ensuring safety and timely workflow.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• BLS Provider certification required.
• Previous hospital experience in transport or environmental service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport surgical specimens and blood products between OR, pathology, and blood bank.
• Move equipment and supplies to and from OR suites and storage areas.
• Assist in patient transport, positioning, and belongings handling as directed by nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, organized OR areas and report equipment issues promptly.
