Job summary

Houston Grand Opera is seeking friendly ushers to greet guests, check tickets, and guide attendees to seats during performances. You will provide programs, answer questions, and help ensure a comfortable, safe environment for all visitors.

The role requires a neat appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to stand for extended periods. Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Experience as an usher or similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a friendly manner and assist with seating.
• Check tickets and direct guests to their seats.
• Distribute programs and other materials as needed.
• Inform guests about restroom, refreshment, and exit locations.
• Ensure guest comfort and address inquiries or concerns.
• Assist guests with disabilities or other impairments, as needed.
• Monitor crowds to maintain safety and enforce venue policies.
• Follow emergency procedures and guide guests to exits calmly.
