Job summary

The Metropolitan Opera is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program (LYADP). The role reports to the Executive Director with oversight by the Assistant Director and involves varied administrative duties, data entry, scheduling, and coordination.

Responsibilities include maintaining LYADP calendars, payroll and budget tracking, producing materials and translations, and coordinating auditions, master classes, and external engagements.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years administrative experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft 365, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite incl. InDesign, Canva, website and database management, social media expertise.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of the opera industry is preferred.
  • Fluency or working knowledge of foreign languages (Italian, German, French, Russian) preferred.
  • Ability to work extended hours including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, email and phone correspondence, calendar appointments, and departmental communications.
  • Prepare and maintain daily/weekly LYADP schedules; track artist releases, faculty availability, AGMA schedules, and cancellations.
  • Input and track payroll and finance data for Artists, Employees, Contractors, Faculty, and Staff; track contracts and reimbursements.
  • Maintain artists’ professional materials and translations.
  • Oversee LYADP social media in coordination with Met Communications; create content and manage digital assets.
  • Assist in planning LYADP events and external engagements; provide production support.
  • Coordinate auditions, master classes, and external engagements; schedule travel and logistics.
  • Compile materials for visa petitions for international artists.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
