Job description

About Divray Koves

Divray Koves is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing strategic consulting, data management, and IT services to federal clients. We operate with a remote-first, certification-focused, mission-driven culture, supporting meaningful federal projects across security, governance, technology, and data.

Role: OpenShift Virtualization Engineer – Senior & Mid-Level (Remote)

The OpenShift Virtualization Engineer supports one of the largest OpenShift Virtualization migrations underway in the federal market — approximately 10,000 virtual machines moving from VMware ESXi to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization across a large-scale, on-premises federal environment. This is a long-term federal engagement combining platform engineering, virtualization expertise, and infrastructure automation in a highly regulated setting.

We are engaging at two levels — Senior and Mid-Level — and will determine level based on your application and screening.

This is a hands-on migration execution role. A significant share of the work is repetitive migration wave execution and cutover support during scheduled evening and weekend maintenance windows, rather than greenfield architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and support Red Hat OpenShift clusters across a hub-and-spoke architecture including global hubs, site hubs, and distributed workload clusters.
  • Migrate Windows and RHEL virtual machines from VMware ESXi v7/v8 to OpenShift Virtualization using the Red Hat Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV).
  • Translate VMware networking, resource pools, folders, tags, and VM configurations into OpenShift Virtualization and Kubernetes equivalents.
  • Troubleshoot migration issues, perform rollback procedures when necessary, and support cutovers during scheduled evening or weekend maintenance windows.
  • Deploy and manage core platform services including Dynatrace, NetApp Trident, Splunk, Commvault, and the OpenShift Compliance Operator.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure automation and deployment pipelines using Ansible, Git, Quay, and GitOps methodologies.
  • Integrate enterprise secrets management solutions such as HashiCorp Vault or CyberArk.
  • Troubleshoot bare-metal infrastructure and out-of-band management platforms including Cisco UCS/Intersight, Dell iDRAC, and HPE iLO.
  • Participate in Agile delivery through JIRA while following formal ServiceNow change management processes.
  • Create technical documentation, migration runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Requirements — All Levels
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong VMware ESXi/vSphere administration experience, including networking, resource pools, tagging, and storage.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes or OpenShift concepts.
  • Automation experience with Ansible, Git, Bash, or Python.
  • Availability to support scheduled evening and weekend maintenance windows, including occasional consecutive weekends during a migration push.
  • Ability to consistently support U.S. business hours, Monday through Friday.
Additional Requirements — Senior Level
  • Approximately 8 years of relevant experience (a combination of education and experience will be considered).
  • Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and administering Red Hat OpenShift in enterprise production environments.
  • Experience leading or serving as a primary contributor on enterprise-scale virtual machine migrations.
  • Hands-on experience with the Red Hat Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV), OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt), or comparable migration technologies.
  • Experience with GitOps practices and container registries such as Quay.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership on infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Additional Requirements — Mid-Level
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience (a combination of education and experience will be considered).
  • Experience supporting migrations, maintenance windows, or infrastructure change in a controlled environment.
  • Willingness to pursue Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes certification during the engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) in production environments.
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).
  • VMware VCP-DCV certification.
  • Experience administering Dynatrace, Splunk, Commvault, NetApp Trident, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs programs, or other federal, defense, or highly regulated environments.
  • Active Public Trust or higher security clearance.
Compensation & Type
  • Hourly rate: $85/hr (Senior) · $58/hr (Mid-Level).
  • Certification costs covered for engineers pursuing Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization or CKA credentials during the engagement.
