Job summary

HealthFitness, a Trustmark company, seeks a part-time/on-call Lifeguard at our client site in the West Hartford area. You will monitor safety and provide a friendly environment for aquatic facility members and guests, enforcing rules and responding to emergencies.

Requirements include ARC Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, strong customer service, and computer skills for data entry.

Qualifications

About the role

HealthFitness has a great opportunity for a part-time/on-call Lifeguard at our client site located in . As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
• Respond appropriately to any emergency.
• Perform chemical testing and documents results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
• Attend all required staff meetings and training.
• Ensure that needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels; cleaning; filling water machines; and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure safe environment for members.
• Maintain a professional attitude.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
• Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.
• Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.

All lifeguards are required to perform a basic lifeguard skill test consisting of:

• 500 yard swim.
• Active, Passive, Submerged rescues.
• Spinal injury management in shallow and deep water.
• Other various techniques that were learned during the Lifeguard Training Program.
