Job description

Open Rank Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor – History

In this role, you will help shape the student learning experience by planning, preparing, delivering, and evaluating instruction that fosters engagement, curiosity, and academic success. You will have the opportunity to design and teach your own course syllabi, bringing your expertise, scholarly perspective, and teaching strengths into the classroom while aligning with program goals. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, or weekend sections, offering flexibility and variety in scheduling. Appointments may be offered on a per‑course, short‑term, and/or part‑time basis for the 2026–2027 academic year, with the possibility of renewal based on departmental needs and performance. All appointments are temporary and part‑time.

Other responsibilities: faculty perform other duties as directed by the Department Head.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Lecturer: Requires a master’s degree, equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
• Assistant Teaching Professor: Requires a doctor’s degree, equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.

Other Required Qualifications

• Strong commitment to excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in History or related field.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid NC driver’s licence required.
• Commercial driver’s licence is not required.
