Job summary

NEOMED in Ohio seeks a part-time Open Rank Faculty member in Oral Pathology to develop and implement the predoctoral curriculum in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine within the DDS program, including didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching, with occasional patient care as needed. This non-tenure track appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities include teaching, service on committees, and involvement in state/national dental organizations.

Qualifications

  • DDS/DMD or equivalent.
  • Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio for a Dentist License or a Limited Dental Teaching License.
  • Qualified to be appointed as a faculty member in the College of Dentistry (rank commensurate with qualifications).
  • Clinical proficiency in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine (including special needs dentistry).

Open Rank Faculty, Oral Pathology

Summary

Part-time (0.5 FTE) faculty position in theDepartment of Specialty Dentistry responsible for development andimplementation of the predoctoral curriculum in Oral Pathology andOral Medicine (including special needs dentistry) in the DDSprogram, including didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching oroccasional support with patient care as needed. This is anon-tenure position. Faculty rank will be commensurate withqualifications and experience.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

Teaching: Responsible for development and deliveryof the Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine (including special needsdentistry) curriculum for dental students in the new DDS programincluding development and implementation of courses and studentassessments for classroom, preclinical simulation, and clinicalinstruction or occasional support with patient care across the DDScurriculum as needed. Service: Activeparticipation on college and university committees might beassigned. In addition, membership and participation in state andnational professional dental organizations is stronglyencouraged. Other Duties: Perform other duties asassigned.

Qualifications
  • DDS/DMD or equivalent.
  • Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio for aDentist License or a Limited Dental Teaching License.
  • Qualified to be appointed as a faculty member in the College ofDentistry (rank commensurate with qualifications).
  • Clinical proficiency in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine(including special needs dentistry).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Residency: Certificate of advanced educationin Oral Pathology or Oral Medicine from a CODA-approvedprogram.
  • Teaching Experience and Expertise: Experienceddental educator with experience in curriculum and coursedevelopment and teaching at the predoctoral level. Interested ineducational innovation and up to date on contemporary educationalapproaches. Openness to new educational approaches. Didactic,preclinical, and clinical teaching experience preferred.
  • Accreditation Knowledge and Experience:Knowledge of, and experience with, accreditation of predoctoraldental education programs by the Commission on Dental Accreditation(CODA). Able to collaborate with college administration to ensureongoing compliance with CODA standards.
  • Board Certification: Board eligibility orcertification by the American Academy of Oral Pathology or theAmerican Board of Oral Medicine is preferred but not required.
  • Collaborative: Can work collaboratively withadministrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and theuniversity.
  • Humanistic Environment: Committed to buildinga humanistic culture/climate within the college and to fosteringstudent success.

Must be able to utilize a phone,computer and other office equipment.
