Job summary

Tyson Foods in Newbern, TN is seeking a reliable team member for 1st shift production support. You will learn to operate a powered tool and perform precision cuts to carcass to help meet yield targets. Training is expected to last 2–3 months, with strict adherence to safety and food safety policies.

The role requires physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds, the ability to work in cold and wet conditions, and the capacity to complete cycles quickly in a fast-paced production setting.

Qualifications

• 6 months continuous employment in last 18 months.
• Preferred 6 months of relevant machine operator, warehouse, agriculture or production experience.

Responsibilities

• Learn to maintain sharp tools and perform precision cuts to carcass to achieve desired yield.
• Set up area with all needed equipment.
• Monitor production area for trash and debris on the floor.
• Perform tasks as assigned by Lead, Supervisor or Superintendent.
• Lift/carry up to 50 pounds and work in temperatures at or below 35°F.
• Complete cycles in less than 20 or 10 seconds as applicable and work around machinery and chemicals.
• Clean up area at end of production shift and handle routine housekeeping.

Schedule - Monday - Friday with possible Saturdays Hours - 6:10 am until finished Pay - 23.25/Hr.

Job Description

• Responsible for learning how to maintain sharp tools to perform their job task correctly; making precision cuts to carcass that allows for correct further processing to achieve desired carcass yield; making precision cuts to carcass to remove hide only to achieve desired carcass yield; operating a powered tool to perform job task.
• Average training time may require 2-3 months.
• Must also adheres to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.
• Responsible for setting up area with all needed equipment.
• Monitor production area for trash and food debris on floor.
• Perform various other tasks as assigned by Lead person, Supervisor or Superintendent.
• Must be willing and able: Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to complete work cycles in less than 20 seconds.
• Must be able to work on and around machinery and chemicals.
• Must clean up area at end of production shift, including but not limited to sweeping, picking up debris from the floor, and spraying work areas.
• Must be able to perform the following task for periods of 8 hours on concrete floor, some of which may include but is not limited to standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting.
• Must be able to work in temperatures less than or equal to 35 degrees Fahrenheit temperature for minimum of 8 hours.
• Must be able to work in a wet environment.
• Must be able to complete cycles in less than 10 seconds.
