Job summary

Chippewa Valley Technical College seeks a WisTech Open Instructional Designer to advance open educational resources across the Wisconsin Technical College System. You will apply instructional design, learning theory, and Universal Design for Learning to create accessible, learner-centered materials aligned with competencies and outcomes.

The role collaborates with faculty developers, librarians, editors, and project partners, with remote options possible within Wisconsin and CVTC policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, curriculum and instruction, educational technology, or related field with a minimum of two years relevant experience.
• Experience designing, developing, reviewing, or supporting accessible instructional materials preferred.
• Experience using educational technology tools such as LMSs, Pressbooks, H5P, multimedia tools, accessibility checkers, or similar platforms preferred.
• Experience developing or supporting open educational resources in higher education, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty developers, subject matter experts, editors, and project teams to design accessible, engaging OER aligned with course competencies and program goals.
• Recommend and support instructional strategies, learning activities, assessments, and other supports to promote student learning.
• Structure and support learning activities in Pressbooks and other platforms using active learning, UDL, accessibility standards, and consistent design practices.
• Design instructional components using educational technology tools, multimedia, accessibility, annotation, and AI-supported applications.
• Review content for clarity, organization, learner engagement, instructional alignment, sequencing.
• Support integration of openly licensed resources into WisTech Open materials.
• Provide consultation, workshops, office hours, and professional development related to instructional design and OER development.
• Collaborate with librarians, instructional designers, teaching and learning partners, and statewide stakeholders to advance open education practices.
