Job summary

First Horizon Bank is seeking a junior API developer to contribute to API design, coding, and testing of RESTful services. You will document using OpenAPI/Swagger and support onboarding and lifecycle management in a cloud-centric environment.

You will deploy to Azure, learn containerization with Docker, and gain exposure to AKS. Collaboration with product, QA, and platform engineers will be essential in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
• Foundational understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and OpenAPI/Swagger; SOAP/XML is a plus.
• Familiarity with at least one language: Java (Spring Boot), Python (FastAPI/Flask), or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js/Express).
• Basic exposure to SQL and relational databases; Azure SQL Database a plus.
• Version control with Git; exposure to CI/CD concepts.
• Basic cloud concepts and willingness to learn Azure API services.
• Understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, secrets management, and least-privilege security.
• Interest in financial technology with data privacy and regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and test RESTful APIs and microservices; document APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Support API onboarding and lifecycle management.
• Assist deployment and operation on Azure; learn Docker and basic Kubernetes (AKS) concepts.
• Contribute to observability via Dynatrace; create dashboards and alerts.
• Follow secure coding practices and manage identities with Azure AD and RBAC.
• Collaborate with product managers, senior developers, QA, and platform engineers in Agile ceremonies.
• Create and maintain API docs, runbooks, and technical specs.
• Perform initial unit and integration tests; assist QA with test cases.
• Participate in rotating on-call for production APIs and integrations; handle incidents.
