Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Manager of Ontology and Data Modeling to develop, implement, and maintain enterprise ontologies in support of our Data Strategy. The role collaborates across lines of business and functions to build domain ontologies and enable semantic technology.

You will lead a team to define a 6‑month vision, mentor associates, govern ontologies, and drive adoption with technology, machine learning, and product teams while adhering to W3C standards such as RDF, RDFS, OWL and SKOS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics or computational linguistics.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a metadata field (ontology, taxonomy, semantics or computational linguistics).
• Experience with W3C standards including RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS; experience with ontology and linked data tools.

Responsibilities

• Define clear and actionable problem statements to help teams deliver results while displaying a comprehensive understanding of ontologies and optimized data models.
• Own and prioritize the near-term Ontology and Data Modeling roadmap to deliver on business outcomes.
• Partner with Technology, Machine Learning, and other teams to support semantic technology integration in products and services.
• Develop and communicate a 6-month vision to senior stakeholders and mentor junior associates.
• Contribute to data integration and mapping efforts to harmonize data with enterprise ontologies.
• Adhere to W3C standards and develop standards, guidelines, and direction for ontology, data modeling, semantics and data standardization.
